Occasionlly my computer does not boot up normally. I
start it and it goes to the safe mode option screen. I
mess around by trying the different options, but nothing
happens. After a few attempts, it boots up okay.

How can I find out what the problem is? could it be a bad
spot on the hard disk?

Help !

You find out what is wrong by doing troubleshooting. Start by going to
Event Viewer and looking for clues in the failures. If Event ID's are
listed, you search for them using Google or looking on www.eventid.net.
You test your power supply, RAM, hard drive, motherboard, with
appropriate utilities. You test one thing at a time. If all this is too
much, you take the computer to a good local computer repair shop and
have them do it for you.
