Occasionally bypassing logon screen

I recently installed Vista home premium onto my desktop PC and it is mostly
working fine. However occasionally when the system boots it will go straight
to my user accounts desktop, bypassing the logon screen which is set to use
Ctrl+Alt_del and a logon screen with three user accounts displayed. This
does not happen very often.

Have I missed something here? I have never seen this with XP, nor does it
happen with my work Vista laptop.

Could it be resuming from a hibernate state rather than an off state when it
doesn't require name/password?
