Obtain a copy of WinXp installation disc?

Is it possible to obtain a copy of WinXp installation disc from microsoft or
your notebook's manufacture company? I have the Averatec Notebook with Win
XP Home Edition, two days ago my notebook couldn't load as usual and with the
errors message saying something like missing important files.... and I
couldn't run the system recovery from another partition console either... I
called averatec, the only solution is to send them my notebook and they will
recover for me but will charge me a hundred something... Of course, i dont
want to spend anymore money on that... However, another soultion I know is
to boot the XP installation disc and reinstall the windows... so i am
wondering, since I bought the notebook which means I also purchased a copy of
the WinXp OS.. my question as stated above, is it possible to obtain a copy
of WinXp installation disc from microsoft or your notebook's manufacture
company?

Thanks!~

If your computer came with OEM Windows pre-installed, you need to contact
the manufacturer for a replacement disk.

Not necessarily. ANY OEM copy of XP will work. It's the Licence key that's
important, not the disk....

I think his point was that Microsoft will not likely provide him with a disk
as it is OEM and support is provided by the mfg, but yours was a good point
to add.
