Objects Redraw Slowy on MacBook Pro

In PPT 2003, in slide edit mode, any ppt objects or imported pngs redraw much
slower than they should or did on any of my older computers.

I am running Windows XP Home on a new MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,
2gb Ram with an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT Graphics Card.
This machine should be like lightening on the redraw... but it's very
sluggish.
In all other matters so far, the MacBook Pro is fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks Lucy... I am running Windows XP on a dual boot Intel processor, so I
am in the right place, no? And I did mean Powerpoint 2003.

Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks!

The very first thing to do is update the video driver. (New PCs typically
have older drivers)

Thanks that did it! Funny thing, another friend had suggested this. I did
it and it solved the problem, but introduced a new problem of my slide show
transitions being clunky. But when I tried it today, it worked perfectly
(one notch from the right got both the redraws and the slide show transitions
up to snuff.)

Thank you very much for your help.
