[H]ardOCP check out the NVIDIA Maxwell GPU GeForce GTX 980 Video Card, evaluating the gameplay performance against the competition:

The "Big" Maxwell is here! Well..."the "bigger" Maxwell is here," would be more accurate. The much anticipated next generation GPU from NVIDIA is ready for prime time. We've actually seen a hint of what NVIDIA had in store for us with the release of the GeForce GTX 750 Ti back in February of this year. The GeForce GTX 750 Ti was actually the first next generation Maxwell chip release from NVIDIA.

@ these prices on Amazon it's gotta be the DB's because that is an awful lot of cash to spend on a gfx card. The price differences are massive

Blimey, young Kyle is still at Hard OCP, that place was really troublesome 15 years ago, always having rows with other forums and banning members left right and centre - almost anarchy :D

Looks like he's matured, he's gotta be at least over 30 years old by now.

As for the video card, I expect it's a cracker but I'd never pay that much for a graphics card, it's almost immoral, my GTX760 4Gb is coping fine for the moment.

There's other toys I'd like to buy for that money, hi-fi and photography related...

Agreed, I could get a newer more decent car and put it on the road for that price

I have a Micra K11 at present. 17years old still going

£180 on the road 4 years ago
Think I would cry spending that kind of cash on something you don't even see

The 980's are big money, but the 970's on the other hand are a cracking deal. :)

Absolutely. I'm seriously considering getting 2 970s (for only a bit more than a single 980...) and using them in SLI for 4K gaming goodness!
