NVIDIA driver in a loop

During the boot, I get the message that NV4_disp (NVIDIA Driver) has gone
into a loop, and the Boot is canceled with a blue screen. The computer is
several years old and has been workng fine until recently.
I've rebooted in Safe Mode, uninstalled the NVIDIA driver and reboot. This
works fine until Windows automatically reinstalls the driver. Anybody know
what is causing the problem?

Are you saying that Windows is auto-installing their driver for the nVidia
card?
If yes, then try and get an up-to-date driver from nVidia.

I did get the latest driver from NVIDIA, I think it was dataed August 16,
2006. I emailed NVIDIA and they say I aghould check the chip sets, etc. But
it just stopeed working now, and it worked well for several years. I don't
believe the card is bad because it works under safe mode, and standard mode
after i remove the drivers... until Windows re-installs the drivers!!

Actually that is a good sign that the card *is* failing. Uninstall it and
swap it out for a known-working video card. If all is well, replace the
original card.
