Number sequence

Word 07 seems not to have the page-numbering action that allows a user to
start a sequence at a particular page. I remember that former Word editions
had the feature.

I’m trying to add numbers to a long document, and, because of a title page,
should like the page number 2 to appear on page three of the document. In
other words, on the first two pages there shouldn’t appear either a >0<,
1<, or >2<.
Is there a way to do this in Word 07?

The page-numbering feature is still present, and just as difficult to
find as it was in previous versions.

First go to the Insert ribbon, click the Header button, and choose
Edit Header from the bottom of the gallery. Or, if you already have a
header or footer in your document, double-click that area of the page
to activate it.

As soon as the cursor is in the header or footer, the Header and
Footer Tools ribbon becomes visible (there is no other way to get it
to appear). In the Header & Footer group at the left, click the Page
Number button and choose Format Page Numbers from the menu. That gives
you the same dialog you could get in Word 2003 from the Format Page
Numbers button on the Header/Footer toolbar.

You should have a section break between the frontmatter and the
document body, and turn off the Same As Previous option in the header
and/or footer of section 2. Then insert a Page field only in section
2, and use the Format Page Numbers dialog to start with page 1 in
section 2.
