At my work, we all have WinXP Pro and everytime we switch programs (i.e from
Excel to Word...) the number lock key will not stay on. Is there any way to
make the number lock key stay on as default?

Hi, Amandle.

BIOS settings relate to the computer's Basic Input/Output System. That's
part of the computer itself, not of Windows or any other operating system
that may be running. Study your computer's user manual to see how to change
BIOS settings for your particular machine, since the method varies with the
hardware. Or post the make and model of your computer here; someone should
recognize it and give you specific instructions.

But WinXP is able to ignore the BIOS setting and control the NumLock key.
Just set NumLock On or Off, as you choose, then reboot. WinXP should
remember the setting in effect when it was shut down. But this is
user-specific, so you might need to set NumLock, shut down, and reboot once
for each user - and if it gets changed unintentionally, you'll have to do it
again.

But the setting should not change when switching programs, such as Excel or
Word.
