NTVDM.exe error

I am running WIN2000 Pro with SP4, (MS Windows V5.0, Build
2195 SP4). I was trying to install a foreign language
input app but encountered the following error:

NTVDM.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program.

The app did not finish installing after the error.
Cleaning the app by un-installing and re-installing again
did not help.

Please help me to get around this problem.
