I found this on my computer in properties it says it is DAT file, unknown
application.
Is this a win 2000 file or something that I should delete.

Thanks for any help you can give.

No, you should not delete it. NTUSER.DAT is the component of the
registry, where all of your user-related settings are stored. You
probably couldn't delete it if you tried because it's busy whenever you're
logged on, but don't mess with it anyway.
