My Ntuser dat file is getting very large. Can this file
be cleaned or removed without causing any damage to the
system ???
Any advice would be appreciated.

But some users may want/need the space.

Let's define what 'large' is before we panic, shall we. 10MB or more is
a bit excessive (but still probably a small fraction of the overall
registry size). 1GB is definitely corrupt.

NTUSER.DAT is the "user" portion of the System Registry. Delete it and all
your per user settings and customizations will be gone.

NO - that is the user settings component of the registry. You can get a
registry optimiser tool which may help a bit - NTREGOPT at
http://home.t-online.de/home/lars.hederer/erunt
along with the free ERUNT registry backup

Mine BTW is sitting at just over 10MB
