You cannot format removable media as NTFS.

For Rob Elder: The XP NTFS SYSTEM DOES NOT LIKE THE FAT FORMATTED DISCS. DOES THAT MEAN I MUST REVERT TO THE FAT32 XP? DHOLLY

Greetings --

First of all, please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all
caps, as you have done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is
considered very rude. More importantly, posting in all caps makes the
post very hard to read, further reducing your chances of getting help.

I'm afraid your question makes no sense. What, exactly, do you
mean?

WinXP can read FAT12 (the file system used on 3.5" diskettes),
FAT16, FAT32, CDFS (the file system used on most CDs), and NTFS with
equal facility. Further, the file system on any one disk/partition or
diskette has absolutely no affect upon the operating system's ability
to read other compatible file systems on other disks/partitions.
