NTP protocol with w32time setting of NT5DS

If I configure the type variable of the w32time service on a Windows XP machine to NT5DS (so it will synchronize with the PDC), will it use the NTP algorithms to maintain time? Will it communicate with NTP messages? If anyone can answer these questions, or point me to a source, I would greatly appreciate it.
