I am trying to do a new install on a recently purchased hard drive. However,
after botting from WIN XP CD and the initial file installation - the computer
goes into a recovery screen and asks me to exit and restart.

When that happens I get the following error message: NTLDR Missing.
No other previous version of Windows is on the hard drive. What do I need
to do?

This usually happens when a floppy disk is left in the disk
drive.

If this is not the case then please supply full details about
the "Recovery Screen" you mention.

Make sure the jumper pins on the drive are set properly, also, disconnect all
other hds (physically).
