NTLDR is missing

My hard drive has crashed and I'm now installing Windows
XP Professional on a new 200 GIG hard drive. I've had
nothing but problems. First, the installation hung at 36
minutes then I started over. Next, Windows install hung at
39 minutes...so, I started over again. Now, I'm getting
the message "NTLDR is missing". I restarted several times
and I keep getting the same message. I'm completely lost,
please help.

NTLDR Missing
Many times this error is caused when the computer is attempting to boot from a
non-bootable floppy disk or CD-ROM. First verify that no floppy diskette is in
the computer, unless you are attempting to boot from a diskette

Are you using a boot disk?
Are you using some type of partitioning software?
If so to either of the above, don't.
Remove any floppy disk.
The Windows XP CD is bootable and has all the tools to install Windows
XP.

Your computer is freezing during install so it's having other problems.

- Get the HDD utility from the drive manufacturer and run all the tests.
Make sure the drives pass.
- Get Memtest86 and ensure your RAM is good
- Ensure your install CD is clean
- Ensure your CPU heatsink fan is running and isn't full of dust. Same for
power supply fan.
- Ensure all cables and fully plugged in

....if it's still crashing then you may have a failing power supply,
mainboard, etc.

"NTLDR is missing" means it can't find your installed partition. Could be a
bad partition table, botched install, etc. Deleting all partitions and then
doing the install may help. Using the HDD utility to zero out the drive will
definately cause the install to rewrite all the partition info during
installation to make sure it's good.
