NTLDR is missing after fresh xp instal

I believe I had a virus in the boot sectorof my 120 G HD running XP Pro, and
it stopped booting one day, after installing nortons antivirus 2003 (I assume
errors were detected in the boot sector), I tried Fixboot disk, fixMBR,
replacing NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM, and BOOT.INI. etc and to no avail. Ran
Scandisk, used nortons disk doctor and nothjing showed up.My slave drive runs
win2000 (I'm working off this now as a subsidary system) & after backing up
all my stuff I completely reformated the 120 g HD from the win2000 computer
management section, Now after a complete new instalation I get the message
NTLDR is missing and still won't boot!!!
Could it be a bios thing?
