Ntfs.sys corrupted

I've tried two different XP home CD's, a new CD machine, a new motherboard, a
different HDD, but still keep getting this message "Ntfs.sys is corrupt" when
I try to load windows. But the strangest thing is that if I reboot once or
twice windows will come up OK but occassionally it acts squirly. Any ideas?
I'm getting desparate.

Did you say you tried a different CDROM loading the OS?

you try different memory?

Yes, I tried different CD for WinXP and a different CD ROM machine.

I have not tried different memory. Could that be giving these symptoms?
