Try hitting F8 several times after the bios or during the bios to bring up
the boot menu.Look for "LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION" push the arrow key
down to highlight that and press ENTER.

Good Luck!

In the first instance you should get into the BIOS setup
and make sure that it has the apropriate settings for
your hard disk. If this does not get you further, try this:

- Format a floppy disk on some other Win2000 PC.
Don't do it on a Win9x PC - it won't work.
- Copy these files from the \i386 folder of your Win2000 CD
to A:\
ntldr
ntdetect.com
- Create a file a:\boot.ini with these lines
[Boot Loader]
Timeout=3
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional" /fastdetect
- Boot the machine with this floppy

Now report what you see.

What I see is this....

Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or
corrupt:
<window 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
please re-install a copy of the above file.

It looks like, we're on the right track...
please help....
what do I do now...

You did not say what the BIOS reports about your
hard disk. After you've convinced yourself that your
hard disk is there, to this:

- Boot the machine with a Win98 boot disk from
www.bootdisk.com.
- Run this command: ntfsdos.exe /L:E
You can get ntfsdos.exe from www.sysinternals.com.
- What do you see when you run these commands:
dir c:\
dir e:\

just after I made what you told me I could access to my PC and I noticed
that I lost all the contents of my Drive C:

then I decided to start a re-installation of the w2k and I choose the option
leave the file system intact...
after that, the w2k setup program makes a "drive inspection" and boots my
pc....

When it comes back... all may stuff was there...
like nothing had happened

do you have an idea what happened?...
how could I avoid run into this problem?...

Gee... I really got scared!!
thanks

I suspect your installation was temporarily visible on a different drive.
