ntbackup weirdness

Hi,
after a lot of reading, I don't understand what's wrong
with ntbackup.
I'm using it with a Compaq DDS4 20/40 GB DAT Drive.
I scheduled a job to perform daily backup.
The first time it runs well, but then it doesn't accept
other tapes the other days (The operation was not
performed because the specified media cannot be found).
How can I fix it?
All I want to do is backup, no matter what tape is in the
drive.
