nt will not go to 128 bit after service pak install

i works at nights doing tech for banking instituions,
sometimes i get stomped and post here

customer with nt downloads the service pak necessarly to
upgrade to 128 bit , after installation his systme is
still 40 bit , even after restarting computer, had same
call other night but user was using 2000 surfer version so
i attributed it to that but i now beleive its something
else. if anyone knows what causes this i would
apprciate the answer
