NT OnAccess Scanner Service Error Message

While trying to upgrade to AOL 9.0 recently, I got an
error message as follows:

ANT On-Access Scanner service has encountered a problem
and needs to close. etc. etc.

Another window stated:

Error signature

szAppName: szAppVer: 0.0.0.0 szModName: KERNEL32.dll

Another window displayed some technical information about
this error as follows:

I was unable to upgrade for this reason, apparently. AOL
claims this is not their issue but rather a Windows
issue.

Would appreciate any assistance.

Do you have a virusscanner running in the background when trying the
upgrade?
If so, try what happens if you disable it.

application. Contact McAfee for assistance.
