NSIS Error

Whenever I close an IE window I get an NSIS Error message. This
started a couple of days ago. I don't know if it has anything to do
with McAfee or not, they have been no help. I didn't find anything on
the microsoft site that helped. Can anyone please help?

Yes, that's the one. I don't know what installer it refers to as I'm
not trying to install anything. However, I just discovered that I am
missing the last two windows updates even though the update history at
the Microsoft site says they were successfully installed.

Well I don't know what else to tell you. You could do a Google search for
NSIS error as I did, which is how I came up with that link, and look around
for any others that may be of help.

When did this error start, what changes were made right before this
happened? Have you disabled all the McAfee start ups and services to see if
they are causing it? What about safe mode - if booted into safe mode with
networking and open IE does it occur? What version of IE 6 or 7?

Well since "bluerabbit" and I are having the EXACT SAME problem, I will
answer this question, for myself anyway.

I'm using IE 6. I'm also using McAfee. Although I don't see what that
would have to do with anything, I still get the error message with
McAfee disabled.

I do NOT get the error in Safe Networking mode.

Then something is running in normal mode which is invoking the error. Do
some clean boot troubleshooting.

OK, before I do anything, I'm using Windows 2000 Pro.

You may not have read my posts below stating this.

Do you happen to have links for Windows 2000 Pro?

Sorry I don't. I don't know if win2000 has msconfig or how you do that in
win2000.

I thought McAfee might be the problem. You might want to think about
removing the McAfee suite. It is problematic like Symantec's Home products.
There are better, and in some cases, free programs that will work well.
