Now Loading / Running Popup Meter

I think I've seen somewhere something about being able to create a kind of
0-100% complete status meter popup. Does anyone have any ideas or know of
any articles that mention how to enable such a thing? I'd like to be able
do this so that end users don't think that long procedures or queries have
frozen up on them.
