To Upgrade from XP Home Edition to XP Professional:
1. Purchase a "retail upgrade version" of Windows XP Professional.
2. Run the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor and following its recommendations:

3. Uninstall your antivirus program.
4. Perform a backup of your important documents and files to a CD.
5. Disconnect all hardware peripheral devices, except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
6. While running Windows 2000, insert the Windows XP CD in the drive and select
the default "Upgrade" setup option.
7. Visit the Windows Update site to download all the critical updates.
