Nothing changes. Still stealing my money, another $0.15 and an hour of MY COMPUTER not working.

David,

Since you are not forced to visit a site and if there are problems you may
leave and return later - no one is stealing anything from you.
You choose to visit the location that due to issues had performance and
operational problems. You are free to not wait there or to not return for a
period of time.

You feel free to go whenever you want too. Least I give accurate answers
unlike you and your work mates.

PS I have paid for this service. This is not free but part of my license
with Microsoft. From the retail EULA
This EULA
applies to updates, supplements, add-on components,
or Internet-based services components, of the Product that
Microsoft may provide to you or make available to you after
the date you obtain your initial copy of the Product,
unless we provide other terms along with the update,
supplement, add-on component, or Internet-based services
component.

Since when has this peer support newsgroup been an "internet-based services
component". The word component implies that it is a part of the OS but it
isn't and never has been...

OK...

I did and came across this disclaimer:

Note
You are about to enter newsgroups hosted on the Internet. Microsoft is not
responsible for and does not endorse the content of the newsgroups in any
way. Your use of, or reliance on, the content of the newsgroups is at your
own risk.

I'm not one of Bill's fans, but don't get your assertion that these groups
are included under the EULA.

It took 800K of downloading and 26 minutes to read your post.

The eula says it is.

Davis,

You have not "paid for this service" - it is a peer to peer support
community.
Even if you did pay for it - under the terms of the EULA that you quoted,
you missed off the end of that section of the EULA.
The full section is copied below.
8. ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE/SERVICES. This EULA
applies to updates, supplements, add-on components,
or Internet-based services components, of the Software
that Microsoft may provide to you or make available to you
after the date you obtain your initial copy of the
Software, unless we provide other terms along with the
update, supplement, add-on component, or Internet-based
services component. Microsoft reserves the right to
discontinue any Internet-based services provided to you or
made available to you through the use of the Software.

Notice the important point - "... Microsoft reserves the right to
discontinue any Internet-based services provided to you or
made available to you through the use of the Software. ..."
Of course this is not relevant since this is not a "paid" for "service".

As an addendum to my post - as of the time of posting the servers and
newsgroups service from msnews.microsoft.,com is operational at normal speed
and performance. Any issues you are seeing are not related to our servers.
You may wish to contact your telecom provider and ISP for any issues.

That's not true. While it's better and has short periods of full speed all
the post (I looked at) in customise just got "Message Deleted From Server"
yet 1 minute later back to full speed. There are no issues this end. Even
MSDN has been fastish today.

Just for informational purposes, I connect to the MS servers through a news
service in Berlin and I have not noticed any perceptible slowdowns over the
last month or longer.

My name is not Davis. Two questions.

1. Is this the official notice that MS is discontinuing the service?

2. And are the servers working the same as, say, 2 weeks ago with the
traditional access to past messages.

And a point. An apology 2 years and two months ago could have saved a lot of
nastiness, including MS's nastiness to me two nights ago.

Two months prior to MS wronging of me (well it was actually happening at
this time, I kept my temper for another two months) I finally got annoyed at
someone for posting a few thousand messages into the
microsoft.public.windowsme.* groups.

This is the most shamefull thing I ever did, I choose to swear now rather
that ever be this nasty again in my life. This is me humilating someone
while pretending to be rational and caring.

The people posting 1000s of messages were from the alt.windows-me group, so
I took the flame into their group rather than ours. Read it.

ch

PS I have never sworn in ME or 98 or 3.1 or Dos groups. At the time this
happened I hadn't in any of the beta XP groups either. I had been here for 5
years when this happened.

MS insistance on manipulating me through my friends by sending nod, nod,
wink, wink messages and refusal to protect me from the S3 Graphics
corporation stalking me is what our dispute is over. Not to mention breaking
a program I had just spent 8 months working on in XP. As to # 2, all I
wanted was an apology. All I got was ignored, at least till you tried to
have me committed to a psych hospital 3 nights ago.

Ed, consider yourself lucky. It was an eight-day, never-ending caprice on
the part of the MS servers. It could have driven anyone mad.

David,

My apologies for the typo on you name in my previous reply.

1. No the newsgroups are not being withdrawn.

2. We are experiencing some problems at this time with our news servers
which are working to rectify.

I will not comment on the rest of your post. As I have not been involved in
it and I have no knowledge of the obviously complex and long running issues
you are having.
