Notepad

Hello
I am unable to start Notepad. Also when a program tries
to access Notepad, nothing happens. The Notepad icon is
visible in "accessories" but if I click on it, no response.
I can go to c:\windows in Explorer and click on the Notepad
icon and it will start. Any suggestions will be
appreciated.

I would first scan with a current antivirus using updated definitions
because there are viruses that can negatively affect Notepad. You may
also want to use the System File Checker to replace damaged system
files. Go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes,
noting that there is a space between "sfc" and "/scannow". You will
need to have your XP cd. Do the virus scanning first, please.
