notepad has vanished

The notepad function on the installation of XP Pro I'm
working with has vanished.

The link icon in the startup menu and in the accessories
menu are both still visible. However, when I click the
link ... nothing happens.

Is there a way to check if notepad is still available or a
way to reinstall just the notepad function without
undertaking a full reinstall of Windows ?

Appreciate any assistance.

Scott,

Notepad.exe exists in your windows folder (normally c:\windows). I think
you lose things like notepad as a consequence of logging onto another
computer with another O/S installed, then logging back to your original PC
when you have roaming profiles. E.g. if you login to a windows 2000
machine, then back into XP some common shortcuts will be overwritten.
Either way, you should be able to reset the notepad shortcut in the shortcut
properties. Hope that helps.
