Notepad

I have WIN XP home, and I'm having problems with Notepad. I have some file
shortcuts on my desktop, but can no longer open them with a double click.
When I right click and pick the "open with" option, notepad is not listed,
and the default is Wordpad.

If I open Notepad, and use file/open, I can open them.

Same thing with My Documents, I can't open any text files in there, by
double clicking.

Notepad isn't listed in my programs to add/delete in control panel.

How can I get this back to the way it was working?

What are the file extensions that you are trying to open? If you go to control
panel--folder options--file types and scroll down to the file type you can set
the program you want to use to open that type of file..

Thanks, I looked in there earlier, but was afraid to click advanced. It
was in there. Somehow it was pointing to a folder that didn't have the
Notepad program, so I changed it. Thanks ;o)
