Last may about one month shy of Norton internet sucurity expiration, my
notebook slow down considarable and any sound will be heard like a cell phone
about to loose the connection; I tried to restore it to an earlier date but I
was not able to do it, the restoration date was the present day I was working
on the n-book I end up recovering the computer, I lost every thing I had in
it, my fault; i tried to set up my home network (comp-comp, and printer) with
no success, I hired some one that came into my home to do it, I was able to
connect to internet via wireless router and in my home and use the printer
but I was not able to connect to the Internet at the airport nor at my nice's
network; last month once again I received a warning from Norton about the
expiration of the security and again my comp started acting tha same way than
before, again tried to restore to an earlier day with no success because it
only showed me the present date; I recovered the pc again, now when I start
the computer I get a dialog box that says "windowsSearch.exe-unableto
locatecomponent" then inside "this application has failed to start because
uncdms.dll was not found, re-installing the application may fix the problem"
I have not been able to install any software since, any time that I do the
computer aknowledge the installation but does not open the program or shows
them as installed. Please let me know if there is any thing I could do since
I do not know much about computers. Thank you.

uncdms.dll referes to the Windows Desktop Search application.
Are you able to start the pc in safe mode, then use Add/Remove dialogue to
uninstall WDS?

If indeed Norton is about to expire you might be advised to uninstall it,
and install another security solution - Norton gives many people problems
and is a resource hog
