I've got a notebook computer running WinXP Pro sp1 and
windows is only using a fraction of the monitor size to
display. And it's displaying right in the middle of the
screen. PLEASE HELP!!!

LCD displays, such as those in a laptop, have a native resolution. If you
don't run that resolution, this can happen. Try upping the resolution one
notch and set the refresh rate to 60 Hz. Unless you have a really nice
laptop, the native resolution is probably 1024×768@60 Hz

Also some laptops have a CMOS setting to make whatever selected
resolution "stretch" to fit the panel. Another thing to look at is
sleceted monitor under display properties, advanced... ; it may have
been toggled to use an external monitor.
