notebook battery short life

Hello!
My notebook's battery has a short life (approx 20 min).
Battery is new, so it's not exhausted and problem seems to
be derived from a bad battery management by Windows Xp.
Anyone has experied my problem?

New batteries must be conditioned by doing a series of full
charge/full discharge cycles. The battery could also be
defective, new means that it is untested, a certain number
of any new item will have problems.

Also make sure you're using power supply from very this notebook model.
Even if notebook works with a wrong power supply, it may fail to properly
charge the battery.
