Note able to update security patches

Hi,

I have Windows XP Professional with product activated. I
downloaded the SP1a and security patches and burned them
on a CD. However I am not able to install the same.

WHen I click on them, the files are extracted and I
momentarily see the "Update Installer Wizard", but it
vanishes before I am able to proceed. This happens both
for SP and other security patches.

Please help.

Hi Rajul,

Please provide more info.

I'm guessing here that the XP pc hasn't got internet connection, so you
download the updates on another pc? (or you want to keep the service pack &
updates for later use?)

Can you post what update you download exactly? Because some updates, even
after you save them on disk, require internet acces to complete (they just
check which files u need to update, then download them) - but there are also
versions of these updates that are 'stand alone'.

A full install of a SP should be quite large, a few MB at least!
