I had a spam checker on Outlook Express that filtered out emails addressed to
addresses like mine, but not mine. Is it possible to set up a message rule to
do this in Windows Mail and how?

Whatever "spam checker" rules you had with Outlook Express should
also work with Windows Mail. In fact, I transferred all my message rules
from Outlook Express to Windows Mail.
I have no idea how one would design a rule to catch emails addressed
to addresses similar to mine.
