i just tried to re-install Windows XP SP2 because it wouldn't read all
of the files and when i tried...it said the code was bad, i tried to
restart, and the computer (COMPAQ DESKTOP) wouldn't read my hard
drives...ANY OF THEM!!! i have quiet a few laying around, but it won't
read any of them...any help on why not?

yea i have checked the the cmos settings and they wont register...i
just got this problem when switching hard drives because one wouldnt
work.
 
well, there isn't much left to do. if the motherboard doesn't register them,
then its not a windows problem. you should double check your cable. maybe
since you have lots of hd's you may have worn it out or broken something.....
get a new cable, ensure it's seated correctly. some cables have a ridge on
the connector to ensure it's installed correctly. but it may be worn down.
also ensure the hd is getting power from the power supply. otherwise, the
motherboard may be the problem or the powersupply..
