not showing properties page

Jerad Hampton

I'm not sure if this is where to post this but I'm trying
to set up internet security. I am in the local security
settings page looking in the IP security Polices and when I
right click on a security policy and click on the
properties button no properties page comes up. When I try
to close the local security settings I get an error message
from MMC saying "Please close all property pages before
closing local security settings" I am running Win 2000
server service pack 4

Thanks

I have not experienced that, but here are a couple things to try. Right click ipsec
policies and first select "restore default policies" to see if it helps. Also check
that the ipsec service is enabled and started. If you use netdiag, it performs a lot
of networking tests including one for ipsec. Sometimes reinstalling tcp/ip can also
fix ipsec problems. If nothing seems to help, try using safe mode with networking. If
it works, then you have a conflict with another startup
ervice/application/driver. --- Steve
