not responding & IMAP

Has Microsoft fixed this issue in OL 2003?
Evertime I check IMAP email, I receiver a not responding and have to shut
down via TASK MANAGER...and I onmloy have 30 or so messages. A 2006
suggestion was to delete the IMAP account and reestablish it. Other users
said that is a temporary fix in that it works and then requires frequent
redoing.

Which add-ins do you have installed?
Does it work correctly in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /sage
(note the space in the command)

Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook?
Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd
still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus
scanner. For more details see;

Orchids & Onions to you.

Orchids.
I did not know what an ADD IN was. I read the article on the link provided
and found several that I would like to have. Thanks for the education. I'll
install once I have the issue resolved

Onions.
My AV is McAfee. I disabled email attachment scanning without result. I then
disabled the EMAIL attachments shield in SPY SWEEPER. No luck here either.

I need to reboot to get to SAFE MODE

Merely disabling it may not be enough, particularly for McAfee's Virusscan.
You must uninstall it completely and reinstall it without the mail scanning
feature. You will be just as safe.
I need to reboot to get to SAFE MODE

Not *Windows* safe mode, *Outlook* safe mode. Start>Run (or Start Search)>
outlook.exe /safe, as Robert said. Alternatively, hold Ctrl when you start
Outlook.

I never got to SAFE mode.

I have three email server handlers:
1- Comcast = POP3
2- LIVE OFFICE = POP3
3- GO Daddy = IMAP

The problem did not affect 1 & 2
On #3, @TOOLS>EMAIL>CHANGE>MORE SETTINGS>Advanced tab, I changed the timeout
from 1 minute to three minutes. I reenabled McAfee. Right now it works fine.

I'll save the OUTLOOK.EXE /SAFE for another day. Thanks for the help.
