Not Responding when checking IMAP

Virtually every time I try to check email in IMAP folders, either through
Send/Receive All or by clicking on the Inbox in the IMAP foler, Outlooks
freezes and becomes "Not Responding." I have to close using Task Manager.

See if removing the IMAP account and adding it back again helps. That will
create a new local copy of the information store.

How big are your IMAP folders (number of messages, MBs)? Outlook might
actually be running just fine and is just busy. It's beta and on my
computer my Outlook becomes unresponsive for sometimes up to 30 minutes
easily.
I would say, leave it open and go for lunch. If it is still unresponsive
when you come back, kill it.

I have been having similar problems. I recently setup IMAP on a pc/outlook
2003 and a mac mail.app. both with same exact settings. mac works fine...

outlook works once (updates inbox/sent +all folders from server) then
somehow loses the connection to the server. The only way to get it working
again is to remove the IMAP account and set it up again....

only about 25 messages on the server so I doubt it's an issue of folder size.

this fix did not work:

FWIW:

I had the same issue of OL 2003 freezing while doing a send/receive
on an IMAP account. I did have 3000+ messages in the Inbox. I moved
all these messages to some local pst folder, and set up a rule to move
incoming messages on IMAP to the same folder. Till now, the problem
has not recurred, fingers crossed...
