Not Recognizing USB Devices

I don't know what happened, but suddenly my WinXP Pro SP3 laptop doesn't recognize most
USB devices!

None of my USB memory sticks show up in windows explorer, my cellphone isn't recognized,
and my scanner isn't recognized as a twain device. However, when inserted, all of these
devices give me the familiar audio tones when inserted and removed.

The laptop has a USB 2.0. The only device that is recognized is my USB mouse.

This is really annoying... can anyone please help???

Eh, I figured it out. There was a "Fabula" USB device in device manager. Don't know how
it got there, but when I uninstalled it everything behaved normally again.
