Not getting Internet connection through router

I installed Windows XP on my second computer and then a network card. I
hooked up the network cable and ran through some network configs on both
computers. I was able to set some folders to share with the main computer
and can see and access them, but the internet cannot be accessed through the
second PC.

I have a linksys 4 port router and cable modem
 
How are you getting your IP addresses. Is the gateway pointing to the
router?
