MSAS 1.0615 Def 5745 (i.e. Uptodate)
WinXP1, IE6SP1,Dailup Firewalled.

I am using MSAS since 3 Months Updating daily running daily. Using net daily
and freely. MSAS has not detected even single sypware since then. before
MSAS i was using SpyDoctor which used to find one are two spy daily (Not
including Cookies). But my system was not stable with SpyDoctor. With MSAS i
have No problem in running/updating.
Is MSAS is so strong that i do not get attacked, real time Protection is
great?
Am I safe Now?
Or I am living in falsehood?

Hi

Well you are not safe I believe.

What antivirusprogram are you using ?

WinXP1 ? SP1 probably ?
Upgrade to SP2 ! but with "Dialup" it takes too long time.

Order a SP2 upgrade CD from Microsoft
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Or if you have a friend with broadband ie xDSL, cable and a CD burner,
download SP2 and burn it.

Thanks Plun
I have the SP2 as well on my laptop. I am using AVG here on system with SP1.
Major issue with SP2 is LAN configuration.
But My main concern is Do I have spyware not caught by MSAS. I have no
problem in browsing or using the system.

Hi

For spyware protection I also recommend to use Lavasofts Adaware as
extra protection, maybe one extra weekly manual scan.

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022-10399602.html?tag=list

About Tracking cookies when you scan with Adaware, Lavasoft explains it
!
"A tracking cookie is data stored on your computer in the form of a
cookie and is shared between two or more websites to enable them to
track your movements across the web. This will help them gather
information about your interests and tailor special marketing for you
and gather statistics when visiting their sites. While these tracking
cookies are NOT in any way harmful for your computer you might feel
they are an intrusion to your privacy. Ad-Aware supplies you with the
ability to remove these tracking cookies if you wish to do so."

One more important issue is to remove all temporarily junk from a PC.
Within this hidden "junkyard" a lot malware hides.
CCleaner can be used, uncheck settings if you want
keep something from default setting.

Well, MSAS Beta1 doesn´ t detect tracking cookies.
If its your opinion that they are evil use Adaware and/or Spybot.

Well I have same concern. Been using the beta since I
heard of it >3 months and no detections either? XPPro SP2
all up to date. Some other AV,antispyware, and firewall
and I get alerts or findings of dataminers. I'm wondering
now what is what cause I can run in different orders and
some find stuff others didn't alert about? I've had no
problems with my PC shutting down or locking up.
