AutoUpdate Not Working

I'm running MSAS 1.0.615 and have automatic updates enabled
at 5am daily, "apply new software updates without
interrupting me" is checked as is "software update
notifications." GiantAntispywareMain.exe, gcasSWUpdater.exe
and GiantAntispywareUpdater.exe all have internet access
rights in ZAF.

However, the Autoupdate function has never worked for me
(nothing appears to happen and there is no error message
that I can locate in MSAS, ZAF or XP's Event Viewer) and
I've had MSAS installed with the above settings for at
least the last 4 weeks. Most recently, MSAS did not
automatically update its spyware definitions at 5am (EDT)
on August 12th. When I opened up the main screen at 8:30 am
on Aug. 12th and clicked on "Spyware Definitions", the
autoupdater function was initiated and MSAS was
successfully updated with defs 5745.

I've tried updating and reinstalling (in Add/Remove) but
the autoupdater still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

TIA

I explained in my original post that I was using Zonealarm
(only) and indicated the permissions I gave to MSAS.
Anyway, ZA is not blocking the update because 1) there are
no blocks or even attempts to make contact in the firewall
log 2) if i turn off Zonealarm, the updates still don't
happen (and Windows firewall is OFF).

One more thing: If I click on MSAS's File > Check for
Updates, the autoupdater gets invoked and successfully
downloads any available definitions. It's the scheduling
component of the autoupdater that is malfunctioning IMO.
