AutoUpdater Working but.....

I have Autoupdater check for updates daily at 5am. This
morning at around 6:30am, I checked MSAS's Help > About and
saw "Spyware Definition Version: 5747 (8/26/2005 5:12:39
AM)." That looked to me like a definition update occurred
even though the version number didn't change. So I shutdown
and restarted MSAS but the version number remained at 5747.
I rebooted my PC and still no change. Finally I did a File
Check for Updates in MSAS and that changed the version
number. Help > About now reads: "Spyware Definition
Version: 5749 (8/26/2005 5:12:39 AM)" - same update time
but with the correct new version number.

It appears to me that the actual autoupdate download of the
5749 definitions happened at 5:12:39 AM but the version
number refused to change until I did a manual check. Is
this a known issue or a problem unique to me?

TIA

This is a known issue. The "Help -> About" data cannot be relied upon for
definition versions.

Thanks Robin. Is there some way to find out which
definition version was downloaded without running a manual
check for updates?

How should I check for the versions?
