I hope someone else has encountered this and has a
workaround.
I've been getting regular occurrences of the following
error:
"Not enough quota is available to process this
request".
This will usually be accompanied by a loss of network
connections, "Application failed to initialize" errors,
and even the inability to restart or shut down the system
(from an id with admin authority). Logging out and back
in does not correct the problem, though once logged out
I can use the Shutdown button on the login dialog.
After restarting, the system is OK again (until the next
occurrence). The spectrum of symptoms suggests a loss of
association between my login and its GUID. Alternatively,
it could be a memory leak, or a failure to release pages
that have been virtualLocked.
Posts eslewhere on this site describe problems with disk
quota as a probable cause, but this occured initially
with quotas disabled. Thinking it might still be using
some kind of inappropriate default quota, I enabled
quotas but specified limits not be enforced. The problem
still occurs.
Intel has also acknowledged there is a hardware problem
that can cause these symptoms, but so far I've only seen
Sony users reporting it. Mine is a Dell D800.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks,
Jeff
