Not all picture appear in Normal View

If I paste a picture from PowerPoint (copy and paste) to a word document, I cannot see it in my normal view but if I copy and paste special in Picture Enhance Metafile I can see it in my normal view.

If I paste it in Picture Png I cannot see it in my normal view. I can see them all in my Print Layout view so I can work with it but I'm just curious to know why ? Is this normal.

Thanks

Yes, that is normal. Graphics don't show up in Normal view, but do in Print
Layout View. The only thing not "normal" is why Microsoft calls this the
"Normal" view. Maybe back in 1988 when all we used a word-processor for was
typing, but I consider it quite "abnormal" to not include a graphic of some
sort in any of my Word documents! Maybe we all ought to band together and
ask Microsoft to change the Print layout view to "Normal"! HA!

There are 5 ways to view a document: Normal view, Web layout view, Print layout view, Outline view, & Reading layout.
Your observation is normal.

Normal view only displays the text layer of the document. The only graphics
that will be displayed in this view are those inserted in line with the
text.

Hi Graham, I'm working in 2003 (so in my Tools - option - Edit - "Insert/Paste Picture as" I have In Line with text) but still when I paste it if I go in Format Picture it shows In Line with Text but I click the picture I do not see the black line and square that I used to see in 2000 when a picture was In Line with Text. To make the picture really In Line with Text I need to go in Format picture and choose any other alignment - apply then I need go back in Format picture and choose In Line with Text and then my picture acted like it is in line with text (meaning I can see it in my normal view). Not sure if I explain myself clearly but what do you think I'm doing wrong. Again thank you

This seems to occur if you paste a floating picture. The floating
characteristic is retained.
