Not all of my gmail messages appear in my in box in outlook, why?

With the pop server apparently working, not all of the messages I receive
appear in outlook 2007. The majority of the messages are synchronized
between gmail and outlook but not all which is a bit of a problem. Any
suggestions as to how to get the skipped messages to be be flagged for moving
to the pop server or what settings might be askew?

Ok, so, just to make sure I understand.

You have Outlook set up to pop to gmail.
You get a new email in your Gmail inbox and, sometimes, Outlook will not
retrieve it.

Correct?

That is correct. Most but not all email messages from gmail get retrieved
by Outlook 2007. The average is about 8 of 10 but it isn't perfect and
therefore Outlook doesn't completely mirror my gmail account.

Hmm. I just set mine up recently and haven't found any mail not coming
through, but what I did find is that messages ended up in my Junk E-mail
folder in Outlook. Have you checked there?

I've also found some odd timestamp issues once I've replied to mail, but
that's not related.

Because you've checked, or because you don't think they'd be there?

First, I'm assuming that in Outlook, in the Inbox on the Status bar all the
way on the left, it doesn't say 'Filter Applied'? Have you tried searching
for the message in the Inbox, just to make sure it didn't somehow get an odd
date thrown on it? Do you have any rules configured that might be moving
the message? Have you tried configuring a different POP client to download
messages to see if it misses the same messages? Also, try setting up
another profile in Outlook and redownloading the mail to a new PST to verify
it fails there.
