Group,

I have a peer to peer network issue.

Network description from top to down.

1. Internet router connects to 24 port hub, of which one port of the 24 port
hub connects to my 10 port switch.

2. On my 10 port switch, is connected two PC with win2k OS.

3. The two PC are using a common workgroup name of 'MIKES-NET', and both
PC have the passwords of each PC in their password list with
administrator privileges.

4. PC number 1 can read and write to PC number 2.

5. When I ask PC number 2 to read/write to PC number 1, I get the following
message.
Mikes-net is not accessible.
The server is not configured for transactions.

What to do?

Thanks,
MikeF

Sometimes that means that the IPC$ share is not working on the server which
can be an
indication of a virus problem, but not always. Try [ net share IPC$ ] at the
command
prompt and/or uninstall and reinstall file and print sharing on that
computer and
verify that the server service is running. Look in Event Viewer on the
server also
for any pertinent clues. Running netdiag from the support tools is also a
good idea
when you have network problems.
