What version of Outlook are you using and what version(s) are those receiving
the improperly formatted tasks using? Are you using Exchange and the back
end? How do you address the message to them? Do you choose them from your
Contacts?

Sounds to me like you have something converting the RTF formatted message to
some other format, either on the sending or receiving side. I can think of a
few things on the sending side, one of which it that you used an Internet
address in the To field, rather than an Exchange address and Outlook thought
you were sending to the Internet instead of to an Exchange mailbox. Click
Tools>Options>Mail Format>Internet Format. In the drop-down in the "Outlook
Rich Text Options" section, select "Send using Outlook Rich Text format" and
try the task assignment again to see if that changes anything. Alternatively,
you could try selecting the people from the GAL instead of entering their
addresses manually to see if that made any difference.
