I'm a big time novice, but anxious to learn- my computer seems to work well
for a while but eventually locks up. I've gone to my Event Manager and an
error report therein reads-

ID:1003
Source:Dhcp
Version:5.2
Symbolic Name:Event_Failed_to_Renew
Message: Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network
(from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address%1. The
following error occurred:%2. Your computer will continue to try and obtain
an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

That's an early error message before lock up. Eventually it gets to another
error message talking about page pools being empty.

I've looked at other questions in here and it seems I may have some issue
with the fact that I've recently installed a wireless connection (I purchased
a Motorola cable modem and a LinkSys Wireless-G Network Adapter (2.4 Ghz).

Where should I start in trying to correct this lock up problem- in simple
terms as I don't have a great grasp on concepts like DHCP, IP, TCP, etc.

Thanks, this has been a nightmare of an ongoing problem as my wife tries to
use this computer to do work and the eventual lock up of the system is
maddening.

See if you have "automatically obtain an IP address" checked in your LAN
settings: Open IE, select tools, options, connections, LAN settings.
Close the windows and turn off your computer. Unplug your modem and Linksys
router. After approximately 30 seconds, plug in your router, modem, then
restart the computer.
Let us know if this corrects the problem.

Regards,

Yes, I do have automatically obtain an IP address checked in my LAN.
Unfortunately performing the disconnect and reconnect as instructed did not
correct the problem. What can I try next?
