Not able to power down?

We have a Gateway MA3 with Turion 64 and originally equipped with XP bought
Nov. '06. We received the Gateway Vista Express upgrade, 32-bit and
installed it. Everything works fine except:

1.) Does not completely power down. If I choose the shut off, goes through
all the correct steps then screen goes black/blank but the power button stays
on and the lap top cannot be restarted unless disconnect the battery and
re-install. Does the same on hibernate/sleep.

2.) The synaptics mouse with scroll bar - the scroll bar does not work but
the mouse pad does.

Gateway should be offering you free support since they supplied Vista to you
and this definitely sounds like an issue you would need to discuss with
them.

As to the mouse, have you checked the Synaptics website for Vista compatible
drivers and software for your mouse?
