Shilps

Hi,

I am trying to open Outlook 2003 .pst file in Office 2007.

However, it is giving me this error: Cannot Start Microsoft Office Outlook.
The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using.

Pls help.

How are you trying to open the PST file?
Run Outlook 2007 then use File | Open .....

That's even a bigger problem. I am not able to open Outlook, every time it
is giving error that Microsoft Exchange folder is not accessible( I had
deleted the hotmail account and configured my office account)

I was doing a double click on the .pst file to open it.

Nope.

But I configured it at home only. It was able to verify the name from home.

And you have a remote access connection from home to your office, using VPN
or some other method?

Its working now( I meant that I am able to connect to the exchange server
and able to see the inbox). The usual problem exists with this account also-
Outlook goes into offline mode and says there is not net connection!

I know this is just temporary happiness, but then what do I do? It will
again have problems in connecting to the server. 95% of time, I get this
message Outlook could not connect to the server and is now in Offline mode,
so I either have to check my mails through web or use some other mail
client(for any time of account)

But this thread is not about connection to Exchange server.

What about the invalid switch- my original problem? Why am I getting that
error? Why am I not able to open the .pst file?

You don't double-click a PST file to open it. As Bill mentioned to you
earlier, you open Outlook then use File > Open and browse to your PST to open
it. Alternatively, you can add the PST to your profile using the Services tab
in the mail applet (Control Panel).

I can do it only when Outlook will open! Outlook refuses to open in offline
mode and so I cant do File>Open.

I did the other thing too (adding to the profile) but even that doesn’t
work, because Outlook insists on opening only when it can establish
connection with the exchange server.

Which comes back to the question of HOW you are connecting to your Exchange
server from home?

S

just ordinary connection after installing the certificate. It should be ok,
as right now I am connected to the exchange server- which means Outlook is
open !

And so is pst :)
